Dialogues with a Haunted Landscape

Dialogues with a Haunted Landscape is the final major project for my MA in Fine Art at Falmouth University through the MA Fine Art Online programme. It was exhibited at Tveten Gård in Oslo in July 2026.

The project is based on a personal archive of photographs and videos collected during daily walks in Østmarka, a large forested area on the eastern edge of Oslo, Norway. The archive documents traces of human activity within the landscape. These traces may be subtle, such as abandoned objects or natural elements gathered and arranged in ways that suggest human presence, but also more explicit interventions, including simple structures built for shelter or temporary occupation in nature. Through these observations, I explore what such traces can reveal about our contemporary relationship with the natural world. The work engages with issues surrounding the Anthropocene, climate change, and biodiversity loss, while also addressing social questions of access to nature and how overcrowded living conditions can shape the ways we use and experience it.

Working across painting, video, and installation, I have explored different perspectives on the relationship between humans and nature. I have been inspired by ecophilosophical and ecofeminist literature that challenges an anthropocentric worldview and the constructed divide between nature and culture.
